Design/Build: Wild Tree Woodworks
Yakima, Washington
Set along the banks of the Naches River, this family retreat already had nearly everything needed for time well spent together—except a treehouse.
Vern envisioned an open-air structure where evenings could stretch a little longer, where friends could gather above the ground, and where shade offered relief from the summer sun. The site was predetermined: a natural cluster of trees beside the family’s pickleball court, central to the activity and energy of the property.
Access was designed with the whole family in mind. A spiral staircase provides comfortable, secure entry for all ages, while a fire pole offers a faster route down for the younger generation.
This project stood out to us for many reasons. Vern brought decades of building experience and a clear vision for what he wanted. That clarity made for a strong collaboration—decisive when needed, yet open to our input and design guidance. To streamline the installation process and reduce time on site, we prefabricated key components in our Seattle shop before transporting them east for final assembly.
The result is a structure that feels both intentional and effortless—well integrated into the landscape and ready for long summer evenings by the river.
