Lead Carpenter
Wild Tree Woodworks is a custom design/build company specializing in unique treehouses throughout the Pacific Northwest. We build creative structures in remarkable locations and are looking for a skilled Lead Carpenter to help guide projects and crews in the field.
The Lead Carpenter is the primary on-site leader for our projects. This role combines strong carpentry ability with leadership, organization, and accountability. The Lead Carpenter helps manage the daily flow of work on site, supports and directs crew members, and works closely with the Project Manager to ensure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and according to plan.
Our projects are highly varied and typically run two to eight weeks in length, with locations and designs changing regularly. The role requires someone who is comfortable taking ownership of a project and enjoys solving problems in unique environments.
We work four 10-hour days per week during the summer, giving our team three-day weekends whenever possible. Many projects require working on the road during the week, but crews generally return home for weekends.
Responsibilities
Lead and organize daily jobsite activities
Provide mentorship and direction to Apprentices and crew
Coordinate subcontractors and prepare site for their work
Maintain project schedule and communicate anticipated delays
Work with the Project Manager to understand and hold to budget
Notify PM of client-requested changes prior to additional work
Ensure accurate time tracking and cost code usage
Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsite conditions
Lead weekly safety meetings
Complete punch list and job close-out tasks
Submit coded receipts and documentation in a timely manner
Qualifications
Advanced residential carpentry experience
Proven ability to lead a crew
Strong understanding of construction drawings and documentation
Organized, proactive, and solution-oriented
Clear and professional communicator
Reliable transportation with lumber rack
Treehouse experience preferred, including:
Installing Treehouse Attachment Bolts (TABs)
Working from ropes and harness systems
Comfort working at height and in unconventional jobsite conditions
Structural work in and around living trees
Schedule & Travel
Four-day work week (four 10 hour days in summer)
Required to travel and work on the road during the week for remote projects (home on weekends)
