August’s House

Design/Build:  Wild Tree Woodworks

Seattle, Washington

You might think that treehouse builders all have a treehouse of their own tucked somewhere among the trees. The truth is, not all of us do—though the dream is very much alive in every one of us. Over the years, as we quietly collected leftover materials from jobs past, that dream began to take shape. The moment truly arrived when we were gifted a set of Tree Fort anchor bolts from Nelson Treehouse & Supply to put to the test.

This treehouse was built largely from salvaged materials, pieces we couldn’t bear to throw away over the years. There’s a certain kind of magic in creating with only what’s at hand, a creativity that turns limitation into inspiration. Each board and beam carries a story, a memory from a past build, making this little retreat all the more special.

The floor plan winds around the tree, leading to a passthrough window that opens onto an outdoor deck—a perfect flow for play. A small loft above offers a cozy sleeping nook or an extra space to explore imagination. This isn’t just a treehouse; it’s a scrapbook of our work, a reminder of where we’ve been, and a place to dream about where we’re headed.
