The Outpost

“The design sketch David shared after our initial consultation completely blew me away. It looked exactly how I pictured it in my head”

Design/Build:  Wild Tree Woodworks

Woodinville, Washington

Lee and his family had just settled into their new home, a place with a generous backyard and a long-held dream of a treehouse. Choosing the right location for a build like this always begins with the trees themselves—how they grow, how the land moves around them, and how the family hopes to live in that space. In this case, the spot was already chosen: a natural fit within the property’s layout and the view the family imagined.

The only complication? The placement offered just one usable tree.

With the design goals and budget in mind, we turned to a combination of diamond piers and two structural posts to extend the footprint while still honoring the single tree at the heart of the build. This approach allowed the structure to feel truly suspended in its surroundings—especially with the hillside dropping away beneath it, giving that unmistakable sensation of being up in the trees.

Budget considerations are a real part of any project today. While they help set the boundaries, they also invite creativity. We take pride in working within those parameters to craft something a family not only loves, but feels excited to step into every day.

“We absolutely loved working with David and his team. From our very first meeting, it was clear that David really knew his craft. He not only cared about building the structure we envisioned but also put a great deal of thought and care into protecting the trees and minimizing any impact.”
